Village In The Spotlight: Brandesburton

A popular, thriving and ever-expanding village located just 9 miles from the market town of Beverley and just 7 miles from the seaside town of Hornsea, Brandesburton, as far as villages go, has something to suit everyone. Dating back to the 13th century when St Mary’s Church was built, the village is full of amenities built around this bustling community.

Brandesburton is a key hub for sports clubs. The extremely popular Hainsworth Park Golf Club attracts golf fans from all over the UK, with a local Cricket Club, Football Club, Lawn Bowls Club, Tennis Club and French Bowls Club all within the vicinity of the village. As well as land sports, the renowned Fosse Hill Holiday Park, Dacre Lakeside Park and Billabong Park offer an enormous mix of water sports, from fishing to canoeing and Jet-Skiing. There really is something for everyone.

From sports to social, the two local village pubs, The Black Swan and The Dacre Arms both offer fantastic homecooked food and a very warm welcome. Should you want more change in food offerings, you could take advantage of China Palace Chinese Restaurant or Bert’s Pizzeria & Café. There are plenty of other places too, if it’s a quiet drink you’re after. Brandesburton Social Club contains two fully sized snooker tables and a bar and offers live entertainment at the weekends. If you just fancy a quiet night in and a takeaway, the China Palace Chinese Restaurant also has a takeaway part, plus the award-winning Blue Dolphin Fish & Chips are located on the main street.

Brandesburton can cater for everybody’s needs. A local village shop, a newsagent and post office are conveniently centrally located, with a baker and three hairdressers also available. The village’s Primary school is ideal for families with young children, with bus access to Beverley’s Schools and Hornsea Secondary School.
